For a safe drive, the Mercedes-Benz safety concept supports you using many different measures: the control and display system, for example, helps reduce distractions. Then there are systems which are designed to alert and assist the driver in critical situations. These include the ADAPTIVE BRAKE braking system. It has various helpful functions:
- The HOLD function: When activated by The driver, this function prevents The vehicle from rolling back, for example on a gradient. - Dry-braking function: in wet driving conditions, brief braking impulses skim off The layer of water formed on The brake discs so that if needed The brakes can act with full effect. - Adaptive brake lights: these show following traffic that an emergency stop is taking place. if The driver brakes hard, fast or suddenly, then instead of The conventional brake light, a red intermittent signal lights up. And When The vehicle has come to a stop, The hazard warning lamps are switched on. In addition there are further outstanding assistance systems available for the E-Class which support the driver and help prevent accidents: - Night View Assist Plus: this optional system works with an infrared camera which monitors The entire high-beam area When it is dark outside And transmits it as a grey-scale image in The central display. Pedestrians can be automatically recognised And highlighted in The display. People, animals And objects become easier to identify even When visibility is poor. - PARKTRONIC, incl. Parking Guidance. The driver receives assistance from this optional system both When searching for a Parking space And When actually parking. Using ultrasound sensors The Parking Guidance determines whether a lengthwise Parking space is large enough And then provides exact instructions on The proper steering angle And The points at which to turn or reverse in order to park with just a few movements of The steering wheel. |
