The new V8 engine generation includes measures such as downsizing, direct petrol injection, two compact superchargers for a fast response and an intercooler for optimum thermodynamic efficiency. In the CL 500 BlueEFFICIENCY, it ensures top values for torque, output and noise reduction.
Innovative engine technology makes it possible to significantly reduce emissions and fuel consumption compared with previous models.
The BlueEFFICIENCY measures in the new CL:
- ECO start/stop function for V8 engines (switches the engine off when in neutral to save fuel)
- optimised 7G-TRONIC for V8 engines
- EU5 certification for entire engine range
- alternator management with energy recuperation from braking (V8 engines)
- energy-saving regulated auxiliary units for V8 engines (power steering pump and oil and water pump)
- specially designed tyres for lower rolling resistance
- sealed joints on the headlamps for improved aerodynamics
- aerodynamic exterior mirror casings
